The Georgia Guidestones is a Stonehenge-like configuration of six massive granite stones erected in Elbert County, Georgia, in 1980 and also known as "America's Stonehenge." The 4 large stones each facing West, North, East and South are engraved with 10 guidelines for future generations (Age of Reason) in eight different languages. The fifth stone slab stand in the center, while the sixth slab act as a capstone lies on top of the five slabs. The stones also line up with certain astronomical features. The origin of this monument remain shrouded in mystery. They were commissioned by a mysterious man who went by the pseudonym of Robert C. Christian.
The monument which consists of six granite slabs is 5.87 m tall and weighing 107,840 kg in all. One language engraved on each face of the four large stones, moving clockwise around the monument from north side, are : English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and Russian.

3. Unite humanity with a living new language
4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason

8. Balance personal rights with social duties
9. Prize truth - beauty - love- seeking harmony with the infinite

At the top of the structure, a shorter message is inscribed in four ancient languages: Babylonian, Classical Greek, Sanskrit and Egyptian hieroglyphs. On the west side of the monument, there is another stone tablet has been set in the ground, provides few notes on the history.
It all began in June 1979, when a stranger asked Joe Fendley (the president of Elbert Granite Finishing Company, Inc in Elberton Georgia) to build a monument. He introduced himself as Robert C. Christian. He said that he represented a "small group of loyal American who believe in God" who lived outside of Georgia and wished to leave a message for future generations. Few minutes later, he meet Wyatt C. Martin at the office of Granite City Bank. Martin was chosen by Christian as the banker and intermediary for the project. After a brief introduction, he told Martin that the group of sponsors wished to remain anonymous and R.C. Christian is not his real name, the name is chosen because of his Christian faith.
Christian told Martin that he had visited monuments throughout Europe and was impressed with Stonehenge. He also discussed possible sites for the monument. At first he said he wanted it erected in a remote, wilderness area away from the main tourist centers. Christian had chosen a secluded section of middle Georgia in Hancock County on a line which stretched from Augusta westward. The state of Georgia was selected for several reasons:
After nine month of working on the monument. The Georgia Guidestones were finally unveiled on March 22, 1980 before a crowd of over 400 people. It is located on a hilltop in Elbert County, Georgia, approximately 140 km east of Atlanta, 72 km from Athens, and 14 km north of the center of Elberton. The stones are standing on a rise a short distance to the east of Georgia Highway 77 (Hartwell Highway), and are visible from that road.
The sponsors of the Georgia Guidestones expect these granite slabs to endure and pass along their "message" for hundred of years. And nothing more will probably ever be known about R. C. Christian, because on his second visit with Fendley, he said he would never visit him again. Actually Martin compiled a file on the Georgia Guidestones, however upon completion of the monument he shredded the records and letters so no trace of the sponsors may ever be known.
For several years, the Georgia Guidestones have become a subject of interest for conspiracy theorists. Mark Dice is one of them, he demanded that the monument to be smashed into a million pieces, and then the rubble used for a construction project. He said that the monument are of "a deep Satanic origin", and that R. C. Christian belongs to "a Luciferian secret society" related to the New World Order.
