Located in a remote place in Russia the southern part of the Chelyabinsk Region, Arkaim's circular fortified settlement aligned with a star has a more complex structure than the famous Stonehenge in England. The meaning of the word Arkaim is the "Sky touches the Earth.""Ar-ka" can be translated to "Sky" and "Im" means "Earth."

Constructed around 3.8-4000 years ago, Arkaim consists of a fortified settlement from the Middle Bronze Age. Arkaim was a circular stronghold that housed thousand inhabitants with concentric bastions, constructed using adobe, a building material made from earth and organic materials.
It was discovered in 1987 by a team of archaeologists led by Gennady Zdanovich, preventing the planned flooding of the area for the creation of a reservoir. Arkaim is attributed to the early Proto-Indo-Iranian of the Sintashta culture, which some scholars believe represents the proto-Indo-Iranians before their split into different groups and migration to Central Asia and from there to Persia and India and other parts of Eurasia.
Arkaim was built on a circular plan and outside it was surrounded by a moat filled with water. The unusual high wall guarded the ruins which had four gates corresponding to the four cardinal points of the compass. Each circular building has an exit to the main road. The level of precision used in its construction is truly astonishing, and the wooden paved road hides an intricate sewage system.

The Arkaim center is believed to be similar to the town square where religious ceremonies are held. According to an old legends and thousands of years of myth from the Ural Mountains and ancient Siberia say that Arkaim is not an ordinary place where people can live.
Many scholars suggest that the concentric design represents “the model of the universe” as described in ancient Aryan/Iranian spiritual literature, the Vedas and the Avesta and reflect the city of King Yima (the fourth Shah of the Pishdadian dynasty of Persia according to Shahnameh) as described in the Rigveda (an ancient Indian collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns).
Up to two thousand people, the old metallurgists and cattlemen, could live there. Arkaim is an important page of the early history of Indo-European population of the steppes. However, 4,000 years ago, the locals suddenly left Arkaim and the empty settlements caught on fire.
It has long been known that Stonehenge was built for astronomical observations and it may still be possible to observe 10 astronomical phenomena using 22 elements, while some archaeoastronomers claim that Arkaim allows for the observation of 18 phenomena using 30 elements.
This means that certain events in the sky can be observed and tracked using the site's resources in certain ways and from different positions, and Arkaim offers a lot more celestial events than Stonehenge.
One of the biggest mysteries about Arkaim is the fire that destroyed the prehistoric settlement. This prehistoric incident is very difficult to explain. No reliable explanation has been proposed for the absence of human remains in the burnt site. It is likely that the residents left the settlement before the fire started.
Recently, the 4,000-year-old settlement, got even more puzzling when researchers unearthed something there that certainly did not look like it came from this Earth.

Researcher Maria Makurova and her team were able to unearth a remarkably well-preserved skeleton in the ground beneath the site. However, the skull was elongated, which has given rise to the Ancient Alien believer from some that we are looking at something from another planet.
Unfortunately, the research team disagrees. It's suspected that the skeleton belongs to a woman from the Sarmatian tribe.
The Sarmatian's territory today's Central Ukraine, South-Eastern Ukraine, Southern Russia, Russian Volga and South-Ural regions.

"Her skull was elongated because the tribe did so by tying up the heads of their children with rope. It was clearly a tradition in the tribe," said Makurova
Adding to the mystery are reports of strange anomalies in the region that continue to this day, which include strange fog formations, mysterious lights and magnetic inconsistencies.
According to David Wilcock, author of The Synchronicity Key, the strange anomalies at Arkaim could be happen because there is some sort of energy node or vortex point on the earth that was actually utilized by extraterrestrials when this site was constructed.
