In February 2020, a group of local residents found a mysterious creature washed up on Destiladeras beach on Mexico's Pacific coast. Local media confirmed that no one could identify the strange animal, but there were also no reports in the media suggesting it was fake.

The creature had a “dolphin-like head, sharp fanged teeth, and a long snake-like tail.”
The mysterious animal did not have eyes, leading some to wonder if it came from deep in the Pacific ocean, where sea creatures don’t need eyes because light can’t penetrate that deep in the ocean. However, they had no idea how it would washed up on the beach from the depths.

According to Tribuna De La Bahia, the discovery of the stranded creature - with a strange tail similar to an eel's - took place in Punta Mita, in the western Mexican state of Jalisco.
The mysterious creature was photographed after it had already been found by other people walking on the beach, who initially thought it was a dead dolphin until they got closer, and realised it was something entirely different.

Apparently no local fishermen recognised the creature. But they mentioned that in Puerto Vallarta there is a marine area thousands of meters deep, next to an area known as Mismaloya, and it is claimed this could be the home of the strange creature.

Despite its terrifying appearance, this mysterious creature is probably one of the species of fish related to Sea moray eels (Murae helena), a species that inhabits crevices and holes at depths of 10 to 80 meters.
But for unknown reasons ended up on the beaches that border the states of Nayarit and Jalisco.
