Stanhope discovered the carcass of the deer while she was riding her horse a few yards from her house on the night before. After that, Stanhope explained that she set up the camera to surveil any animals that might take interest in the dead deer.
The next day, Stanhope and her 76-year-old grandfather, Bob, were astounded when they reviewed the footage. The video showed two mysterious figures with long, matted, black hair and only a cloth to cover the bottom half of their bodies. They emerged about 10 minutes after sunset looking "disheveled" and like they were wearing wigs. These eerie figures believed to be “witches" by Stanhope, appeared to engage in a macabre ritual around the dead deer.

Stanhope admitted that she was “creeped out” because the incident happened just a two-minute walk from her house. She said that she was fearing for the safety of her horses.
Soon after Stanhope posted the photos online, the social media users erupted, with some claiming it was a prank and they suggested calling the police also the video might have been staged since the presumed "witches" appeared to be physically healthy, while others speculated that the figures could be mythical creatures or beings associated with dark folklore and they were probably part of some Wiccan or Evangelical cult. Theories of witches, skinwalkers, and even wendigos surfaced in the online discussion, adding an air of mystery and fear to the incident.
Stanhope was torn between contacting the authorities and dismissing the occurrence as an elaborate prank. Her grandfather pointed out that the figures weren’t technically breaking any laws. However, rumors of a cult that collects animal bones in the area further fuelled the speculation surrounding the incident.
The nurse stated that she was hoping that the incident would just be a prank or that those women would be “on some good drugs”.
